The Doctors

Dr. Patricia Herring
Dr. Herring graduated from University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio dental school in 1982. She opened the practice here in New Braunfels on July 13, 1983 in a house that was built in the early 1900’s. Dr. Herring has put lots of love and devotion into making Herring Family Dental what it is today.
Dr. Herring is an active member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and River District Dental Society.
Dr. Herring was raised in San Marcos where her parents still live. She has 2 children, Tami and Troy and 5 grandchildren, Brooke, Saura, Farah, Kolton and Konner. She loves spending time with her grandchildren more than anything. Dr. Herring is a member of First United Methodist Church in San Marcos. In her spare time, she enjoys Bible study, shopping and baking. Dr. Herring also enjoys reading and gardening and is very thankful for all her wonderful patients.

Dr. Tami Herring-Sahni
Dr. Tami Herring-Sahni was born in San Marcos, TX. Growing up in New Braunfels, Dr. Tami has many memories of the area and especially her mother’s dental practice. She graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1990 then furthered her education at Texas Tech University in Lubbock graduating in 1994 with Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry. Dr. Tami went to dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and graduated in 1999. She then completed a Hospital Residency at Hermann Hospital in 2000. Dr. Tami has been practicing dentistry for over 10 years now.
Dr. Tami met her husband while they were both living in Houston. Dr. Irvin Sahni was doing his orthopedic residency at Baylor while she was in dental school. They got married in 2000 and moved to New Braunfels in 2003.
Dr. Tami worked full time here at Herring Family Dental until her daughter Saura was born in 2007. In 2009 she had twin boys, Kolton and Konner. Dr. Tami now practices dentistry part time so that she can be a full time mom. She enjoys cooking, traveling and reading as well as spending time with her children. Dr. Tami looks forward to coming back to Herring Family Dental full time once her children start school. For now, Dr. Tami wants to enjoy the happy and healthy family that she and her husband have been blessed with.
Dr. Tami is a member of the United Methodist Church, Moms of Preschoolers, River District Dental Society, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association and American Society of Specialty Dentistry.

Dr. Catherine Carothers
Dr. Carothers grew up in Liberty, Texas. After high school, she attended University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 2002 with a degree in Biology. Dr. Carothers received her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2006 from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She now resides in San Marcos, Texas.
Dr. Carothers is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the River District Dental Society.
In her free time, Dr. Carothers enjoys spending time with her husband, Corey, who is also a dentist, and their daughter, Cate. She also enjoys traveling, reading a good book and being outdoors.

Kaci McCauley
Kaci is the office manager here at Herring Family Dental. She helps patients with insurance, scheduling appointments and loves to visit with them when they come in for appointments. Kaci loves the relationships she has made with both patients and her co-workers while working at Herring Family Dental.
Kaci was born and raised in Victoria, TX and graduated from Victoria High School in 1997. She furthered her education at Texas A&M University. She is currently pursuing her degree in Psychology from the University of Houston.
Kaci loves spending time at her family’s land in Shiner, TX, traveling and reading.

Amanda Penaloza
Hi, I am Amanda. I have been a registered dental hygienist for 15 years and I have been working at Herring Family Dental for the last 13. My goal is to make your visit here as pleasant as possible. I hope you have scheduled your dental appointment with us and I look forward to meeting you.

Jamie O'Brien
Jamie lives in New Braunfels with her husband John and their two poodles Mitford and Spice. They moved to New Braunfels in 2009 after having lived in San Antonio for almost 20 years.
Jamie received her hygiene license in 1984 and has been practicing hygiene ever since. She has been at Herring Family Dental since February 2010. Jamie treats her patients the way she would like to be treated with great care and compassion. Jamie has been described by her patients as very sweet and gentle.
Jamie likes to read, work in the yard and spend time with her nieces. She and her husband John also love to travel.

Ida Herrera
Ida is from Seguin and is a friendly smile you can find working almost anywhere around the office. Ida is a Registered Dental Assistant and excels at assisting in any area of the office that could use an extra hand. She has a sweet tooth and a sweet personality. Ida strives to give every patient that extra TLC that you can always find with Herring Family Dental. Ida’s coworkers consider themselves lucky to work with her.
Outside of the office Ida can be found spending time with her friends and family. She loves football, karaoke and a good BBQ!

Bobbie Hanover
Bobbie has been a Registered Dental Assistant at Herring Family Dental since 2008. She has grown up in Comal County and both she and her family have been involved with our great community for generations. She takes considerable pleasure in building relationships with patients and enjoys learning new things about future friends.
Bobbie spends much of her spare time helping on the family farm and will not hesitate to spend all day in a tractor or working outside. Bobbie is an avid reader and loves cooking. She maintains an active lifestyle and takes pleasure from exercising on a regular basis. Bobbie prides herself as a social butterfly and can’t wait to meet you at your next appointment.
